IRSWA 2014 STATE CONFERENCE
ROTTNEST ISLAND | 21-22 NOVEMBER 2014
The Industrial Relations Society of Western Australia is proud to announce that this year’s annual State Conference is being held at Rottnest Island on Friday 21 November 2014 and Saturday 22 November 2014.
The Conference will be held in a marquee in the grounds of the Rottnest Hotel only metres from the water and we will be featuring WA seafood, Margaret River wines and boutique WA beers in the Conference function menus. We have a number of social functions planned including a Welcome Sundowner overlooking Thomson Bay, a seafood lunch beachside at Aristos and a three course Gala Dinner in a marquee on the waterfront.
The Conference program will be spread over two days and include key note speakers, a debate and a masterclass. Invited speakers include:

The Conference will commence at 10.45am on Friday 21 November 2014 with registration and morning tea. Ferries to the Island will depart from Northport Ferry Terminal at 10am. Conference sessions will run from 11.15am until 5.30pm on Friday. A sundowner will be held at Rottnest Hotel from 5.30pm Friday night. Conference sessions will resume at 8.30am Saturday and run until 4.30pm. The Convention will conclude with a formal Gala Dinner commencing at 7pm on Saturday night. Ferries will return delegates to Fremantle Sunday morning departing Rottnest at 11.40am and arriving at Fremantle at 12.15pm.
The Conference Registration Fee includes conference sessions on 21st & 22nd November, Friday and Saturday Lunch at Aristos, Welcome Sundowner at Hotel Rottnest, Saturday seafood lunch at Aristos, Gala Dinner at Rottnest Hotel and a networking/team building Corporate Adventure Race on Saturday afternoon.

Registrations will only be accepted if they are made online using our online registration form available here.
Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or credit card. A credit card surchage will apply to payments made by credit card. Accommodation is allocated in the order that payment is recieved. Payment by credit card will ensure selected accommodation is secured immediately. Payment by cheque and bank transfers may be delayed pending manual processing.

IRSWA has reserved all the available accommodation at the Lodge and the Hotel and negotiated discounted rates for registered Conference delegates. The available accommodation choices cater for a variety of tastes and budgets. We have a number of rooms available at the Lodge which cater for groups of 3 to 6 people. For delegates travelling alone or with a guest there is also hotel style accommodation available at both the Rottnest Hotel and the Lodge.
The available accommodation choices are listed below. Please note that there is limited accommodation available in the main settlement. Accommodation will be allocated in the order payment is received. Accommodation choices marked with [ ] have sold out.
Check in time for all Island Accommodation is 2pm. Friday’s Conference Program will break between 2pm – 3pm to allow delegates to check in. An Island Discovery Coach Tour is available for accompanying guests during Friday morning’s Conference sessions while they wait to check in.
The room rate for the Rottnest Lodge includes breakfast. Delegates staying at the Rottnest Hotel or in self catering accomodation can purchase tickets for themselves and their guests for buffet breakfast at the Rottnest Hotel on Saturday and/or Sunday.

The Rottnest Lodge, built in 1864, was once the summer residence of the Governor of Western Australia. A variety of different room configurations are available and are listed below. The rate is for 1 or 2 people and includes a cooked breakfast.

The iconic Rottnest Hotel provides two accommodation options for up to three guests (the 3rd on a rollout). Bayside Rooms open onto private courtyards with unrestricted views across Thomson’s Bay. Courtside Rooms open onto a central courtyard. The rate does NOT include breakfast.

IRSWA has secured discounted ferry tickets for delegates and their guests. Tickets are for the Rottnest Express Ferry which:
- Departs from Northport at 10am on Friday 21 November 2014 arriving at Rottnest at 10.40am.
- Departs from Rottnest at 11.40am on Sunday 23 November 2014 arriving at Northport at 12.15pm.
The ticket price is $70 for adults and $40 for children (3-12 years) For tickets for children under 3 please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The ferry tickets once purchased are not changeable or transferrable. Delegates who wish to arrive or depart from a different location or a different time should book directly with the ferry providers. Delegates should arrive at the Rottnest Express Northport Ferry Terminal no later than 9.15am on Friday 21 November 2014 to ensure sufficient time to organise parking, luggage and registration. Paid parking is available at the ferry terminal for $12 per day per car.
Delegates may purchase tickets for guests to attend the functions listed below.
A Rottnest Island Discovery Tour is available for accompanying guests while delegates attend the Friday morning sessions. The Tour by coach will depart at 11.15am and return at 1pm when the Conference Program breaks for lunch. The Rottnest Island Discovery Tour is the Island's popular coach tour and includes full commentary from a coach captain on many aspects of the Island's unique history, environment, heritage and wildlife, as well as up-to-date information on new developments and activities on Rottnest. Wadjemup Lighthouse and the West End are two of the highlights of this popular tour.
All function ticket prices include food and drinks. Child tickets are available for children aged 12 or under.

The Conference has been approved for a maximum of 5.5 CPD points as follows: 1 CPD Point Competency Area 1 - Legal Skills and Practice, 1 CPD Point Compentency Area 2 - Ethics and 3.5 CPD points in Competency Area 3 - Substantive Law.
