Seminar - "Family and Domestic Violence Leave Provisions under the Fair Work Act"
The Industrial Relations Society invites members and guests to attend an evening seminar hosted by Corrs Chambers Westgarth entitled
"Family and Domestic Violence Leave Provisions under the Fair Work Act "
The Australian Human Rights Commission states that, domestic and family violence is not just a private or personal issue. When an employee is living with domestic and family violence, there are often very real costs and negative impacts that flow to the workplace.
The new Fair Work Amendment (Family and Domestic Violence Leave) Act 2018 (Cth) is a new protected attribute in anti-discrimination legislation and can lead to improved measures for addressing domestic/family violence. Our expert speaker will be covering
- Why the legislation was introduced and general principles and who it applies to.
- How it attributes to existing anti-discrimination legislation
- Why it is a workplace issue
- Considerations for employers and employees
- Mark Cox, Director MDC Legal
Mark leads the specialist employment law team at MDC Legal. He has over 19 years practice, mainly in industrial, workplace and employment law. Mark is a well-regarded practitioner in workplace relations law, named as a “leading lawyer” in Doyle’s Guide 2014, 2015, 2016, and “market leader” in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
