The IRSWA is pleased to announce that it will host the Industrial Advocacy Program in Perth from Friday 7th of September 2018 until Sunday 9th of September 2018. The course objectives are to:
Provide a skills based program which exposes participants to the principles and practices of advocacy in the Fair Work Commission.
Provide participants with an opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills of advocacy within the Fair Work Commission with the supervision and support of experienced advocates and Tribunal members.
The course is designed to cater for a range of experience levels from those who have never engaged in formal advocacy to those who are experienced but wish to hone their skills. The course will be delivered by former Senior Deputy President Brian Lacy and QC Chris O'Grady of the Melbourne Bar together with a range of experienced advocates and current members of the Fair Work Commission who will work with participants in the workshop sessions.
The course will be conducted over three days. On Friday 7th of September the theory component of the course will be delivered at UWA. On Saturday 8th of September and Sunday 9th of September skill workshops (moots) will be held in the courts at the Fair Work Commission. Certificates will be presented to participants at a function on Sunday afternoon following the conclusion of the course.
The registration fee includes detailed course materials, 3 days of learning, morning/afternoon tea and lunch on each day.
