Women in IR Breakfast
The event has been registered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation as an endorsed Pink Ribbon Breakfast. On the day we will be selling National Breast Cancer Foundation merchandise and receipt books will be available for those who wish to make a donation. Don’t forget to bring along some loose change to buy some raffle tickets. We have some wonderful prizes this year to give away.
All proceeds from ticket and raffle sales will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. If you or your organisation are able to donate prizes for the raffle such as movie tickets, gift cards, hampers etc please email us at email@example.com or call 9222 7787. Donations will be acknowledged on the IRSWA website and at the event (unless the donor prefers to remain anonymous).

Cost: $50 per member or $65 per non member
To register: Registration is essential. Registration for individuals must be done online. You can register by clicking "register now" on the right hand side of the screen. Members need to login first to obtain the member price. Groups of eight can book a table. Registration for groups is only available offline. If you wish to to book a table for eight please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a list of the names of those attending and whether they are members or not. An invoice will be sent to you for payment. It is not possible to book part tables or accomodate more than 8 guests on a table.
This year we have three wonderful speakers lined up.
Rikki Hendon: Branch Assistant Secretary – CPSU/CSA
Little did she know at the time but the guest speaker at Rikki Hendon’s final year lecture at university was Jo Gaines, the person she replaced as the Community and Public Sector Union/Civil Service Association Branch Assistant Secretary in 2012.
Rikki was impressed by Jo’s talk in 2006 on the union’s ‘No More Bandaids’ campaign in Child Protection, an agency the union has been heavily involved with.
It highlighted the action undertaken by union members to improve not only their working conditions but also outcomes for their clients, who are our state’s most vulnerable families and children. It crystallised for Rikki that unions have the power to change lives for the better.
Towards the end of her studies Rikki participated in the Labour Movement Work Experience Program with Senator Chris Evans and gained an insight into working in the trade union movement. In 2007 Rikki started work in the CPSU/CSA’s Unionlink team. She then became an Organiser for union members in Dental Health Services, Department of Mines and Petroleum, Legal Aid, Department for Communities and Department for Child Protection before becoming a Lead Organiser.
Now as Branch Assistant Secretary she oversees all union agencies and campaigns with Branch Secretary Toni Walkington.
Rosemary Roach – Consultant – Corrs Chambers Westgarth (Legal)
Whether appearing in arbitration proceedings before the Fair Work Commission, or navigating through sensitive workplace investigations such as harassment or fraud, Rosemary provides clear legal advice that draws upon years of experience. As a former Industrial Relations Manager with Qantas, Rosemary Roach understands what it's like to be on the client's side, and is able to leverage her expertise for their advantage. In 2006 Rosemary was awarded Corrs Scholarship for Excellence allowing her to attend Harvard Business School’s Women Leading Business: Innovation and Success. This course has framed Rosemary’s career since as she applies skills that allow her to think innovatively, act successfully, take a leadership role and empower younger practitioners.
Sandy Meacham – People Group Director Worley Parsons
Sandy is a highly motivated and dynamic leader, who is inspired by results and fundamentally driven by developing strong, confident HR professionals.
Through continual career progression, she has gained unique expertise in senior ER/IR/HR management positions. Sandy has recently joined Worley Parsons as the People Group Manager. Before joining WorleyParsons she worked for BHP Billiton as the Employee Relations Manager and for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Sandy prides herself on partnering with HR professionals and management to ensure practical, business focused solutions are provided at all times. Her diverse knowledge allows her to confidently partner with management in a manner which is respectful, approachable and which encourages the development of others. She is passionate about driving strong strategic People initiatives, building employee engagement for both the HR group and the broader business, and developing leadership potential and capability.
She is a respected member of the WorleyParsons leadership team and an active participant in HR and IR committees and networks. She is well regarded by a wide network of HR professionals, all who highly value and respect her experience, leadership style and capability. Sandy has a Bachelor of Communications (double major in HR and IR) and a Bachelor of Arts (double major in Japanese and Indonesian).
